As a celebration for my come back in the XJ staff,
I decided to interview one of the most unknown person in the entire community...
He's one of the XJ master but almost nobody knows him...
I am of course talking about OddYsseus!
为了庆祝我（ndR）回到XJ管理层，我决定采访整个社区中大家最不熟悉的人之一。他虽然是XJ的老大，却几乎没人知道。我说的正是 OddYsseus！

Hi OddYsseus, I'm really glad that you accepted to make this interview!
First of all, could you please introduce yourself?

Hello.My name is Matthias and I'm 22 years old. I'm currently working as atechnician in a datacenter for a german web hoster. I'm going to signup for college next year after my apprenticeship ends. I enjoy drivingmy A3 (@Moxx: bring your volvo bitch!) and watching movies/tv series.At the weekends I'm hanging out with friends or reading books.

You've got different hobbies from what I was expecting... Tell me, what's the story behind your nickname?
你的爱好跟我的期望不一样……那么你为什么起这个ID名呢？

In8th grade we talked about Homer and his work. Of course the Odysseycame up as well. At that point friends already called me Oddy, which isa nickname formed of my last name. I simply took the original Odysseus(only one d) and combined it with Oddy resulting in OddYsseus (big Ybecause it just looks better).
8年级时我们讨论荷马和他的作品（比天朝学生强大多了-_-|||），当然要谈到奥德赛。朋友们根据我的姓，给我起了个外号叫Oddy。我简单的将Odysseus（只有一个d）和Oddy组合起来，就成了现在用的OddYsseus（Y大写是因为这样好看些）。

Let's come to the "virtual life" now, what's your video games/e-games experience?
我们来讨论“虚拟生活”吧，你的电子游戏经历是怎样的呢？

Ientered the Counter-Strike scene shortly before 1.4 came out. I guessit was early 2002. I played like a few months of 1.3 online and atprivate lan partys with friends. Later I was then introduced to KZ mapsby a friend who showed me gigablock. I didn't really pick it up until afew months later. arF taught me the kz basics and soon after I startedplaying cups in #Xtreme-Jumps (May-June 2004). ev0 was Xreme-Jumps'leader at the time and Goateh and Helferlein were pretty big namesregarding world records. But let's move on to the next question sincethis answer is already heading that way...
CS1.4版出来前不久我开始进入这个世界，大概是2002年初。我在线上玩，也在线下跟朋友一起玩了几个月1.3。后来一个朋友向我展示了gigablock（这操蛋图，想当年我玩的时候头晕要吐啊），让我接触到KZ地图。我几个月后才开始玩它（估计是恶心期过了……）。arF教了我一些KZ的基本技巧，很快我就到XJ去玩cup（04年的5、6月）。当时XJ的老大是ev0，有两个著名WR狂Goateh和Helferlein。让我们开始下一话题吧，已经有些谈到那里去了……

Let's talk about XJ now, how did it start?
我们来讨论一下XJ吧，它是怎么建立的呢？

Inever really asked ev0 how everything started. But there was no websiteuntil September 2004 when I created the first rules page for XJ's cups.In December 2004 we switched to e107 which we're using until now. Atthe beginning it was all german but we soon changed that to attractmore visitors. That's how the site started.
我从没问过ev0，他是如何让一切开始的。但直到我在2004年9月建立了一个cups的规则页面，XJ才有了一个网站。04年12月网站换成e107，我们一直使用到今天。一开始网站上全是德国人，但很快我们就作出了一些改变，使得它吸引来其它地方的访客。这就是网站的开始过程。

Asan oldschooler, you must have seen many things around, tell us some oldsecrets, good or shocking memories of events which hapenned in XJ!
作为一名oldshcooler（这是真正的古董玩家啊），你一定知道很多事情，告诉我们一下陈芝麻烂谷子的事情，比如XJ上的鸡动人心的记忆吧！

Onetime when Helferlein was already retired there was a flame war betweenhim and T3dBundy on a TS2 server. It was recorded by another admin andevery once in a while it's kinda funny listening to it. :-)
I don't really remember anything special as we always had a great time playing cs/kz together.
有一次，在Helferlein已经退役的时候，他和T3dBundy在TS2服务器上吵架。这事件被另一个管理员录了下来，每次听都觉得好笑-_-|||

You are one of the head admin of the community, what's your work in the XJ staff? What do you really do?
你是XJ核心管理员之一，你一般都做什么呢？

Atthe moment I'm responsible for technial stuff. Keep the bouncersrunning, the domains up to date, paying for our webspace and dealingwith our hosting in general.
目前我做技术工作，主要比如维护服务器，网站更新，为网站空间付钱和与主机商打交道（内牛满面）。

Couldyou explain why you don't seem so active in the eyes of the communitymembers despite your head admin role? You're not posting many news,forums posts etc... And what's your reason for working "behind thescene" and being so "secret"?
能解释一下你为什么不活跃的表现吗？你不发布新闻、论坛帖子……你这么“猥琐”的原因是什么？

Iwill be honest with you. I stopped playing kz maps and recording demosin late 2006. That's why I'm not so active any more. I enjoy watchingworld records of my favorite maps and that's pretty much it. Everyoneknows that you have to choose carefully what you're doing with yourfree time after work and there are other things which I'm moreinterested in lately. So I try putting my energy for XJ into a fieldI'm good with - technical stuff. :-)
诚实地说，我06年就不玩KZ不录demo了。这就是我为什么再也不活跃的原因。能看着我最喜欢的地图上的WR，就非常满足了。大家都知道工作之余的休闲时间有限，要好好安排，而我对某些事情更感兴趣了（哦？）。所以我把对XJ投入的精力集中到技术工作上。

I don't know many people who know you, even a bit... What's your explaination? Would you be shy?
好像没几个人了解你。为什么呢，你很害羞吗？

No, I wouldn't consider myself being shy. I just choose my friends carefully. Call me paranoid but I believe in privacy.
不，我觉得我不害羞。我只是慎重地选择朋友。我非常注重隐私，可以称作偏执吧。

Ihave personally never seen you jumping live, here starts the questionmany people are wondering about... How good are you at kz? What's yourLJ rec? Have you ever done World records?
我本人从没看你玩过KZ，所以这里有个很多人都想知道的问题：你的KZ水平怎么样？你是LJ纪录呢？你有过多少个WR？

NowI'm shocked! You as an old schooler should know that I used to recorddemos. I had several world records back in the days e.g. madness,terablock, peak. I also set a world record with 244 units on temple atthe end of 2004. I've stopped doing unit jumps shortly after thatbecause I realized there's no point to it. It doesn't show how good aplayer is.
我斯巴达了！你这个oldshcooler都不知道我曾经录过什么demo（伤自尊了）……我曾经有过一些WR，比如madness、terablock、peak等等。04年末我还在temple上跳过244单位，刷新了LJ纪录（果然是一代强人）。在那之后我很快就不追求LJ了，因为我明白了这东西一点意义都没有。LJ水平高并不能说明KZ玩的多好。（说的太对了！）

I of course knew that but I asked it for the readers!
What's your opinion about the current scene? Kz players and the community.
我当然知道，我是为读者问的！（太假了吧……）
你对现在的KZ玩家和社区有什么看法呢？

I'mnot that active right now so I can't really talk about the scene. I'msad to see so many cheating attempts in the past. I'm happy to see thatit's still possible to beat "old" world records which everyoneconsidered being perfect one or two years ago. I would love to see morelonger maps again. I like 5 minutes and longer for a perfect run. Allthese 2-3 minutes maps are not really my type.
我现在不太关心这些，所以没什么可说的。看到以往这么多人作弊，我感到很伤心。而保持一两年的完美极限demo都有可能被打破，这让我非常开心。我希望有更多大图。我喜欢看到完美搞定5分钟以上的大图（变态啊），实在不太喜欢那些两三分钟的小图。

How "far" do you think kz and XJ will go?
你认为KZ和XJ能走多远呢？

I'mnot sure. Everything's possible but kz will never get as big as "real"cs. We have to be realistic about the scene being too small and that'skeeping sponsors away. Nevertheless I think we can provide a usefulservice for the community for years to come.
我不确定。所有事情都可能发生，唯独KZ永远也不会发展壮大到与CS本身相等的地位。我们要对现实有清醒的认识——这个圈子很小，没有赞助商。不过在未来我们可以为这个社区提供更多有用的帮助。

"Hereare so many controversial things going on like cheaters getting bustedall the time and admins abusing their powers (thopa). What motivatesyou to keep supporting XJ and keep on paying for the webhosting and soon each month/year?"

Onething I like about XJ is everything being at one place. I'm playingquake 3 defrag once in a while and there's really no place like XJ forthat mod. Demos and maps are at different sites. There's no officalworld record list or a list of offical maps. It's very annoying lookingfor good maps and great demos. That's why we build XJ the way it is. Ithink it's a great place to start when you're new to kz maps. That'sthe main reason I keep supporting XJ. I want to keep this great placealive even if it means putting up with all that trouble.
我喜欢XJ的一点，就是所有事情都在这里发生。有段时间我玩quake 3 defrag，但它没有像XJ这样的社区。地图和录像分散在不同的网站上，没有官方的世界纪录和地图的列表。找好地图和强大录像非常烦人。这就是我们建立XJ的目的。我觉得新手从这里起步非常合适，这是我支持XJ的主要原因。即使有无数麻烦，我也愿意维持XJ。

- What's your config?
你用什么config？

When I started playing kz maps in 2004 I created my own config and I'm using that config since then.
I'm playing sensitivity 7 with a Logitech G5 Refresh.
04年KZ时用上自己的config，直到今天。现在我用罗技G5，灵敏度7。

- kz hero/favourite jumper?
最喜欢的KZ玩家？

T3dBundy: He was (and maybe still is) able to take every world record he wanted.
a0ke: I liked his style a lot plus he did world records on all my favorite maps (tera, quadra, possclimb, giga).
T3dBundy：他曾经（也许现在也是）能拿下他想要的任何WR。（现在能吗？口水话题……）
a0ke：我喜欢他的跳跃风格，另外他还在我所有喜欢的地图上刷过WR（tera,quadra（这不就heL刚悲剧的那张图吗。。。）,possclimb,giga）。

- favourite food/drink?
最喜欢的食物和饮料？

I don't really have a favorite meal.
Favorite drink: Water at home and at work. Beer when going out.
我没什么最喜欢吃的食物。最喜欢的饮料是在家喝水在外喝啤酒。

- favourite sport?
最喜欢的运动？

I'm into jogging. It helps me clearing my head.
I enjoy watching tennis grand slams at tv. Go FedEx!
我喜欢慢跑，它让我头脑清醒。我喜欢在电视上看网球大师赛。Go FedEx！（？）

-The place in the world you want to visit at least once in your life.
至少想去一次的地方？

I like the idea of traveling the USA. However most likely I won't be able to do that any time soon...
我想去美国旅游，但似乎不太可能实现。

- Your goals in the life.
人生目标？

That'sa hard one. Life doesn't turn out the way you plan it so I'm thinkingin smaller steps. From personal experience I can tell that health isthe most important thing in life. So don't get too hard on yourself andtake some breath during the way...
这个问题太难了。人生总不按计划发展，所以我只会想一些小目标。根据个人经历，健康是人生中最重要的东西（同意啊）。所以即使雄壮如春哥也不要对自己太狠了……
