Back to Business! Insilio Weekly #6 is coming, put your KZ pants on again. Our special in this weekly will be an interview with k3g. He will express the current standing of the chinese jumping community and his current attitude toward the game. Let's start, enjoy the weekly.

I. Information

The first thing we have to talk about is the new rule change at XJ. We saw that this change is a step toward a more accurate time. Unfortunately this news weren't announce in a single newspost, even if this is a big change in the way, how demos get accepted. Now demos have been broken through this rule, even if it isn't official yet. The opinions about this new beta-rule are pretty much assorted. The poll votes are pretty much balanced. However, make sure that you understand what this vote clearly means, since it's a big change in the future.

I asked StormZz about his opinion about this rule change.

StormZz: "I don't care about the new rule, because I wanted to start a new style of recording demos anyway, although it seems kinda stupid to replace clintmo_bhopwarehouse with akkord's demo, because my demo-time was 23.01. As some people know, I already did it way faster long time ago, but with fireworks plugin enabled, which had models included that are required to watch the demo. But in my opinion, if they use the fps-death timer, they have to add milliseconds for atleast short maps."

We have to say that it's really good, that XJ is evolving this decision together with the community. It seems like something has changed and it changed in a positive way.

Some weeklies ago we announced Chrizzy's new map kzsca_crazyblock, at this time it was an unofficial map. Now it got accepted, good job to Chrizzy for this sucess. It will have some great records I think, the map clearly deserved the kz-tag in my eyes.

Now we are coming to some sad news in my eyes, but it's still combined with some good news as well. 8ball1 has just finished a movie. But the movies name is "8ball1 Lastmovie". So you understand where the problem is. 8ball1 retired of the scene and this will be the last thing he gives to us. So this is the goodbye-movie of 8ball1. This is what he had to say about it:

8ball1: Bye guys I'll leave the scene now. There are much more important things in life I have to do and I don't have the time to play anymore. I'll still be around in the forums, but I won't play this game anymore."

Thanks to you 8ball1, you made a lot of great things for this community. Like ndR said :"Everything 8ball touches transforms into gold". I think a lot of people agree on this. Here is the thread at XJ, where you can find his lastmovie. link

ndR has some other news for you guys. Listen to him.ndR: I'm gonna meet Fact or Fiction tomorrow. We're gonna discuss a bit in front of a beer, because he is coming to paris. He wants to see the eiffel tower etc. , thats why he is coming to paris. We will take some pictures!"We are waiting for this pictures! Have some great time in paris together. It seems like FoF is travelling around like always, soon you will know whole XJ! :D

Now we will come to our special in this weekly!

The interview with k3g

chrizZo: k3g please introduce yourself to our readers!

k3g: hi guys ,I'm k3g and i'm from china xD I live in Haerbin , a big city in the northeast of China. I'm 23 years old and I think I started playing kz from March 06.

chrizZo: It seemed like you were away for some time... Where have you been in the last time?

k3g: Because I was going to the university ,so I have been busy on java for some time. And of course I spent a lot of time with my girlfriend in the last year as well! That is the real reason xD

chrizZo: So when was your prime time at XJ? How do you rate your skills back then at the time you made some world records?

k3g: My best time at XJ was during 2007. I think i could have done any med-hard shortcuts in a run to beat a world record :DBack then, 2 years ago, I think I was a good player ,because I made some nice time on xtreme maps, such as 3ways xtreme , I got 5:55 1.5 years ago, emm, I think I'm not that nooby in my old world records xD. Because i just wanted beat them at that time, never tried them again, I could have made it much better if I would have tried it it some more often maybe! xDMy speed was low as always , I usually think I'm normal at speed-climbing, but I'm more like a trickjumper, I think I'm way better in trickjumping than in climbing!

chrizZo: You talked about the med-hard shortcuts... I'm still watching your gigablock demo with your crazy edgebug sometimes. Personally I think it's one of the best demos ever made. Can you tell us, how often did you try that edgebug and can you tell us how often you did the edgebug in like 10 tries?

k3g: That one wasn't that hard for me, I could have done it 2x or 3x in a row, if I would have geeked it. Back then I practiced edgebugging everyday, thats why I did it like 1/10 tries. It's just about catching the feeling of doing it! I did that shortcut a few times on my team server in a run! It looks kinda easy sometimes, but the map was just too boring to record it a lot. I think nowadays the jumpbug killed the edgebug. Edgebugs are pretty much useless nowadays, but it still has a cool style if you do one, it's cool for movies and trickjumps. For me jumpbugging is way harder than edgebugging.

chrizZo: You just said that edgebugging and the shortcut on gigablock looked pretty easy sometimes... For me it looked more than impressive, that you did an edgebug and after that a fast 90 degrees turn for landing on the edge, where you have made the bug! But anyways, like you already said, you were the shortcut and trickjump finder back in the days. Like we have seen in "k3g and wRath - The Rising" you still know how to find new and cool trickjumps. How do you find them? Are you just playing maps and running around and looking for them?

k3g: I'm just starting a map and then I'm hooking along the climb way and look in every corner and do it carefully. Then you find something from time to time. Thats how I found all the shortcuts and thats my advice for you guys! Sometimes I'm getting a bit disappointed ,because I always find uber hot shortcuts, which i can't pwn.

chrizZo: Do you remember one single world record without any bigger shortcut?

k3g: I think it's kz_wsp_1337block and kz_sideways.

chrizZo: Are you back now k3g ? Will we see some demos of yours, or some more movies of you?

k3g: st0ka is currently working hard on a movie about akkord and me. The movie is called Basics and Beyond. It will be an awesome one!

chrizZo: So k3g, you are from china and a member of the 97Club. Can you tell us how many people are jumping on an active level there ? I heard it has the same size like XJ has, is that true?

k3g: There are more than 300 guys in 97club. And the most of them are really funny, I think you would like to play with them, even if they are not as good as the guys on XJ. But they just love this game and they are spending around 10 hours a day to play it.

chrizZo: They should be better than the guys on XJ?

k3g: Maybe they will, in the near future. You know @p, SkiCG and huyji, they are all in the 97Club. Now there are just a few guys, that can beat world records, they just need to improve their skills.

chrizZo: When did these guys start playing?

k3g: SkyCG started in the summer of 07. He is genius, I haven't seen anyone like him. Huyji started in march 07 and @p started early 06 I think.

chrizZo: Is @p still playing?

k3g: I don't know him that well, I'm sorry.

chrizZo: On your HLTV there are sometimes around 70 people on there, watching others jumping. At the same time like 10 players are on the server. That means 80 people are active at the same time watching or playing KZ. The most online record at XJ is around 130 people. When you said 300 people are in the 97Club, did you mean 300 people that are in the team? I think there are a lot of more players registered and active at the site, is that right?

k3g: The team has more than 300 guys that passed the kz exams. We have 4 levels in our team, they are called Ama, Med, Pro and Elite. If I would add all other squads with shooting and other games there would be around 600-700 in here.

chrizZo: Who has founded that huge clan? Could you briefly explain this kreedz exams and the rating level? Is anyone free to join?

k3g: Our boss started playing CS in 1997, thats why the team is called 97club. His nickname is Andy. Anyone is free to join it, it's a big clan in China. If u wanna join here, you just have to pass some kz examinations. As an example this is a rating : kzno_xtremeblock(4)This means you have to make xtremeblock under 4 minutes to get the Elite level.

chrizZo: Is it possible that you failing in the exams, like you can't pass it? And how does your clantag look like and do you wear the level in your nickname as well?

k3g: Sometimes I'm wearing my level in my nickname. As an example, with me of course xD, it would be 97Club^k3G[Elite]*. Yes, you can fail in the exams, but you can always try it again. An example for the Ama level is this:kz_stoneblock_ez (4).

chrizZo: What does Ama mean? Something like New player? Is there a chance to make the exams again to get a better level?

k3g: Yes, you can get in a higher level. You just have to do the exams again and pass a higher level. You can do the exams every half of a month. You could say Ama stands for a new player, like you already thought.

chrizZo: There are some more communities in China, like SiMen. How many chinese jumpers are active, can you make a guess?

k3g: In SiMen there are some great jumpers, like 6D, 007, leos and caoyao. In cCser are guys like 190, DJ368, KTM and WY, they are very skilled as well. I think there are like 40+ thousands people playing kz active.

chrizZo: Is there any special reason why you are all playing non-steam counter-strike in China?

k3g: Well, all the servers are non-steam xD. Steam is known, but the most people are just using non-steam. So if you want to join the servers, you need to play with non-steam.

chrizZo: Do you see China more present at XJ in the future? Do you think there will be much more jumper, that will do world records soon ?

k3g: I really think that Chinese jumper will make more and more records in the future. I'm believing in them, they are special and impressive. They are kinda weird crazy Asians ^.^

chrizZo: Do you think that someone of the Chinese players could even reach the first place at XJ in the record list?

k3g: I don't think anyone of the current jumpers could reach the first place at XJ at the moment. But maybe some unknown guy will come, there are a lot of hidden players!

chrizZo: Can you tell us what your favorite demo is at XJ? Maybe your favorite of yours as well.

k3g: kz_kzse_marsh by zhady and kz_kzsca_sewerbhop by you chrizZo :D. I really like these maps and the world record runs are really nice on them as well! My suk_desertblock_ez_k3G_0323 is my favorite demo, because I'm thinking that it was a really fast demo back in the days.

chrizZo: What do you personally like when you are watching a kreedz demo? Is the speed, or the hard shortcuts or just the style of the jumper?

k3g: I mostly love the short records, such as bhop records. And I love watching the records on hard/extreme maps as well!

chrizZo: Okay, I really really enjoyed this interview with you! You gave us some nice overviews about the Chinese jumpers here, thanks for that mate. Would you like to greetz someone or any last words ? :P

k3g: I hope that the XJ community will get better and better in future. Special thanks to all my friends in 97club and XJ :D And thank you chrizZo for this interview! We love you guys on the other side of the world <3

A picture of k3g, showing him in his bedchamber in Beijing, where he lived for 3 months

Here are some demos, that we talked about during the interview.

k3g's legendary kz_ep_gigablock_b01 demo with his insane edgebug. It's a must watch in my eyes link

k3g's favorite demo on suk_desertblock_ez. Again this demo is made with an edgebug within the run. Really nice and enjoyable demo of him, it brings back a really nice feeling about kz. link

k3g's demo on kz_cup_storage with one of the hardest shortcuts in kz history. How he is doing the shortcut, with these kind of strafes is just amazing me. A must watch as well. link

III. Files!

chrizZo made on of his best demos ever yesterday. It's a demo full of speed and risky shortcuts. He got the easy version of this map before and now he wanted to have the duo complete. I'm talking about kz_chinabl0ck. SuPa's old world record was made in 04:14. Now chrizZo pushed the second number on the timer one value down, it's not a 4, it's a 3 from now on. Enjoy kz_chinabl0ck from chrizZo in 03:59 link

Mentalo is working on his new project, it's kz_mto_desolate2. He lost his old files from the easy version, because his computer crashed. But now he started it again, with exactly the same textures and style. Check these pictures out, we are waiting Mentalo! link link

We want to point out that Kunqui went up to place number two in the world ranking on XJ. Great success Kunqui, you will be #1 in or or two releases. This means we got the top demo recorder in our team, thanks to you Kunqui, you are more than insane in the last time. You got my respect for the way you just walked through the top5. He has done two more records, seriously nice Kunqui! link

We want to point out, that chrizZo's demo on cg_beginner, that is posted above in the weekly, has three jumpbugs in the end. I'm making three jumpbugs in a row, after I finished my run! For the jumpbug fans, it's a must watch :]

Now I would like to say thanks to all the readers and everyone who has helped me out or offered some informations. We want you to comment if you read this weekly or just used the files that has been posted, since we want to see how many people are reading and using this weeklies. So please do this for us guys!
